Homebuilders' Blitz Build Sept. 2010

What is it? -- Members of the Utah Valley Homebuilders’ Association will volunteer their professional labor to build a Habitat home in just one week.

When? -- September 13 – 18, 2010. Site support volunteers needed 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Where? -- 758 S 760 West, Springville

How do I sign up? -- NOTE: A mandatory orientation session for all Blitz Build support volunteers will be held Saturday, September 11, from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the Orem office, 340 S. Orem Blvd. Click the Volunteer button below, or go to http://habitatuc.volunteerhub.com and sign up for the Blitz Build Orientation on September 11.

Blitz Volunteers Needed:

  • Site Host (ages 16+) -- Welcome volunteers on site and ensure all volunteers are signing in and out as they come and go. Help set up or take down break area, and set up water, snacks, and meals for volunteers. Ensure volunteers have the supplies they need.
  • Site Cleanup (ages 16+) -- Under direction of construction supervisor, help organize and clean up the site. Be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Runner (ages 21+) -- Responsible volunteer with own transportation, valid driver license, and automobile insurance. Be available during shift time to run errands as needed. Gas mileage will be reimbursed.
  • Adopt-a-Room -- Great project for families, church groups, and clubs! Adopt a room in the house by gathering decorations for a room. Bring your group to decorate the room on Monday, September 21 or Tuesday, September 22, in time for the Wednesday ribbon-cutting.
  • Snack Sponsor -- Feed our volunteers! Provide snacks, breakfast, lunch, or dinner for approximately 25 volunteers on one of the days. In-kind donations may be tax-deductible.

Monday Builds

Extend your weekend by coming to build with us on Mondays, from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers should be at least 16 or older. Groups of up to 15 people are welcome.

Note: Community Service court-ordered volunteers are required to contact Rachel Wyatt: (801) 344-8527 for appropriate volunteer opportunities prior to volunteering. You must have prior approval of your volunteer time in order for us to sign off.

    Want to get involved in Habitat for Humanity but not handy with a hammer? Most of the behind-the-scenes work at Habitat for Humanity of Utah County is completed by a volunteer board of directors and seven volunteer committees. Members are needed for most of the committees. A one-year commitment to a committee is generally preferred. Learn more. +
