what is the restore?

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new clothes and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of retail prices. Habitat for Humanity of Utah County owns and operates a ReStore in Orem Utah, and proceeds are used to build and repair homes in Utah County.

Volunteer

We are always in need of volunteers and community service workers to assist our ReStore staff in creating a friendly and helpful shopping experience for our customers.  Volunteers assist in unloading our trucks, merchandising and pricing, assisting our customers on the sales floor and much more. ReStore Volunteer and community service opportunities are available Tuesday-Saturday from 10-6.

Receiving Manager

We’re hiring a Receiving

This role keeps our back-of-house operations running smoothly—receiving donations, preparing merchandise for the sales floor, and leading volunteers through it all. You’ll report to the Store Manager and Assistant Manager.

What You’ll Do

  • Receive and evaluate donations against acceptance criteria; communicate professionally with donors about our policies and Habitat’s mission
  • Clean, test, price, and stage donated items for the sales floor; research comparable prices to maximize value
  • Manage inventory flow from receiving through the sales floor; track incoming donations and ensure timely rotation of merchandise
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse, donation center, and outside yard
  • Keep tools and equipment in good working order
  • Lead and direct volunteers—assign tasks, enforce pricing guidelines, ensure safety compliance
  • Verify receipts before purchased items leave the facility; assist customers with loading
  • Perform minor repairs on items as needed
  • Support the management team with floor displays and overall store presentation

What We’re Looking For

  • Solid warehouse skills—you know how to move product efficiently, manage space, and keep operations flowing
  • Supervisory experience (warehouse, retail, or similar environment)
  • Team-first mentality; success here depends on collaboration with management, staff, and volunteers
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude
  • Ability to prioritize, think critically, and handle difficult situations with tact
  • Comfortable leading both staff and volunteers
  • Forklift operation desired but not required (training and certification provided)
  • Knowledge of building/household materials helpful but not required
