Throughout the year, Habitat of Utah County hosts several special construction projects or ongoing builds to celebrate annual traditions or observe holidays. As these special builds approach, details on how to get involved will be displayed here. We also are involved in some special initiatives that are important to us.
Women Build 2020
According to the National Women’s Law Center, more than one in seven women and more than one in five children live in poverty. More than half of those children live in families headed by women, and most do not have a spouse’s income to rely on to support their family.
Women Build is Habitat for Humanity’s program for women who want to learn construction skills and build homes and communities. This program brings together women from all walks of life to address the housing crisis facing millions of women and children worldwide. Our women build homes are constructed by over 75 percent of female volunteers from our community.

Nationwide, nearly 4 million veterans pay at least 30% of their income on housing, while more than 1.5 million pay at least 50%. As you can imagine, using half of your income to pay your rent or mortgage is an enormous strain on any budget.
Habitat affiliates across the country are doing their part to support veterans who stepped up for us, and Utah County is too. Over the years we have done several projects focused on veterans and their families, but we want to do more.
Starting in 2020 Habitat for Humanity of Utah County will be reinvigorating our Veterans Build program as an ongoing program focused on homeownership, honor, and continued service of community for U.S. veterans, military service members, and their families.
This is an ongoing process and we are looking for dedicated volunteers to help us increase opportunities and access to resources. Veterans, military service members, and family members will lead this program, but all volunteers are welcome.
Habitat for Humanity of Utah County is a unique vehicle for people to put their faith and love into action. Building with Habitat gives people of all faiths an opportunity to step outside their place of worship and create a community of compassion through service.
Above all, Habitat for Humanity is a partnership founded on common ground—bridging theological differences by putting love into action. Here in Utah County, we have 42 different Faiths. Imagine, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs and Atheists partnering together to build homes for people in need in our community.
Habitat believes everyone can use a hammer as an instrument to manifest God’s love. While we may disagree on many issues, we can agree that everyone deserves a safe place to call home. And when we work together to build homes, we begin to build a society defined by compassion, mutual respect, and unity.
Collaborate with other faith communities and plan a faith build with us in 2020! Please contact Nancy Mickiewicz at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
